Water is the most important compound on earth; without it there would be no life at all and to stay healthy, it is important to stay hydrated - everyone should know that by now. But there are still many people who don't drink enough water. This can lead to an array of symptoms: difficulty focusing, bad breath and dry skin. The rule of drinking 8 - 8 oz. glasses of water each day no longer holds true.

Instead, you should determine how much water to drink based on how thirsty you feel and how much you weigh. Generally speaking, you should drink 1 oz. of water for every 2 lbs of body weight. This means that someone who weighs about 155 lbs. should drink a little over half of a gallon, but this is just a rule of thumb. Depending on how much you sweat or how active you are, you may want to drink more, and of course, if you're thirsty you should always have a drink of water.

Aside from the normal, hydration function, there are even more good reasons to drink water. And not just any water, but warm water on an empty stomach! Here are a few of the advantages of warm water versus cold:  

1. Better metabolism in the morning

If you drink warm water in the morning on an empty stomach, your metabolism gets an extra burst of energy. This activates your metabolism without consuming calories. If this seems too boring to you, you can add a slice of lemon to it.
