This woman threw a bundle in a dumpster and ran away. It was the most terrifying thing
After doctors switched off the girl's life support machine, they noticed something under the blanket
Incredible story
Sam Hemming seemed to have everything she ever wanted. The 22-year-old from England studied law, had excellent grades, and looked forward to becoming a lawyer. But her whole life was to fall to pieces after getting into her boyfriend's car one day.
While on the highway, the car started to spin out of control and went off the road. After flipping several times, the vehicle finally came to a stop. While her boyfriend only sustained minor injuries, Sam had been thrown through the windshield during the accident. Her face was badly injured by broken glass and the impact broke four bones in her neck. Though she was still alive after being airlifted to the hospital, doctors prepared her family for the worst. It seemed as though their daughter's life would come to a tragic, abrupt end.
You can find out more about Sam's amazing story in this video...
A team of surgeons worked tirelessly on Sam for six agonizing hours before placing her in a medically-induced coma. Nineteen days later, stony-faced doctors told Sam's mother Carol that her young daughter would probably never wake up again. Carol was then left to make a decision that no parent should have to consider: she agreed to switch off the life support machine.
As a tearful Carol was bidding farewell to her daughter, she suddenly noticed a twitch from under the blanket. Sam was wiggling her toe! At the last possible moment, the law graduate had been snatched from the jaws of death. Soon after, she even woke up.
Though the accident left the right half of her brain severely damaged, the left side still works perfectly. With tremendous effort, Sam is learning how to activate this half of her brain and fight her way back to full health.
There is still a long road ahead, but the Sam is slowly learning how to walk and talk again. She is a true medical miracle and has even left specialists stunned. "I can't remember the crash at all. I can remember graduating and that's it really. I can walk in short bursts and just want to get better now," she said.
Sam is particularly grateful to the doctors and emergency service teams who saved her life. Their work inspires her to keep on fighting and she still has aspirations of becoming a lawyer. Now that's she's been given a second chance at life, she's all the more determined to show how strong she is and what she can do. Good for you, Sam!
